       Congratulations on calling for this important, career-changing civil engineering interview. But getting a civil engineer job is not easy.
The most important part of preparing an interview is to know what kind of civil engineering interview questions you can put in your direction. That way, you will be in a good position to prepare your responses well in advance and feel confident that your responses will affect the interviewer.

1. Can you explain what the projection line is?

The projection line can be described as the way in which the earth displayed on a piece of paper.

2.  Can you list out the various steps involved in the concreting process?

The main steps involved in the control process are as follows:

  •  Mixing
  •  transporting  and placement of  concrete 
  •  Compacting

3. List the reinforcements used in the pre-stressing process.?

There are three basic types of bedding that are used in the process of pre-stressing. They are:

  • Spalling Reinforcement.

  • Bursting Reinforcement.


4. How would you describe cement?

The fitness of the cement can be described as a property that ensures that the cement does not undergo any significant expansion or is fixed after the volume changes. This process helps prevent any possibility of mortar or concrete from deteriorating.

5. Describe fatigue. Can you identify some structures that can be fatigued?

Fatigue can be described as a gradual loss of a structure that occurs when it is subjected to cyclic loading (frequent loading and unloading). Some of the structures that make up for fatigue include:


  • Bridges that are heavily loaded 
  • Hydraulic Presses
  • Aircraft

6. Explain the different types of crushing test indications.?

Steam tests are started to measure the consistency of the preparation of fresh concrete. They can also be used to test an improperly mixed batch of concrete. There are three different types of outbreaks in the following slip tests.


  •  True slump
  • Share slump
  • collapse slump

7. Explain the concept of built-up area and super built-up area.?

The built-up area includes the carpet area as well as any space occupied by walls, pillars, and tubes. In most cases, the built-up area accounts for more than 10% of the rug.
The super built-up area covers any part of the built-up area that is used by building amenities such as living rooms, lobbies, stairs, gyms, clubhouses, etc.

8. What are some common types of roofing.?

There are several types of roofs available. Some commonly used items include:


  •  Gable roof
  • Gambrel roof
  • Shade roof
  • Half-hipped roof
  • Dutch hip roof
  • A-frame roof
  • Skillin roof
