If you feel unwell, you should rest, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious foods. Stay in a separate room from other family members and, if possible, use a separate bathroom. Clean and disinfect frequently touching surfaces.

Everyone should lead a healthy lifestyle at home. Maintain a healthy diet, sleep, stay active, and communicate with loved ones by phone or the Internet. Children need extra love and attention from adults in difficult times. Follow regular procedures and schedules as much as possible.

During a crisis, it is normal to feel sad, stressed, or confused. Chatting with people you trust, such as friends and family, can help. If you feel depressed, talk with your healthcare provider or counselor.

Get medical attention if you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. Call in advance.
It is currently not recommended to take antiviral drugs to treat COVID-19, and there is no cure for COVID-19. Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections such as COVID-19. Current studies are examining various drugs that may be effective in treating severe COVID-19.

Treatment is aimed at relieving symptoms and may include:

  • Painkillers (ibuprofen or acetaminophen)
  • Cough syrup or medicine
  • The remainder
  • Fluid intake

There is no evidence that ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should be avoided.

If you have mild symptoms, your doctor may recommend that you recover at home. He or she can give you specific instructions to track your symptoms and prevent the transmission of the disease to other people. You may be asked to isolate yourself as much as possible from family and pets during illness, wear a mask when you are near people, and use a separate bedroom and bathroom. Your doctor will probably recommend that you stay in isolation at home for a period of time, other than to receive medical care. Your doctor is likely to follow you regularly. Consult your doctor about when you can finish home isolation.

If you are very sick, you may need treatment in a hospital.
